How did you get started modeling?
As a teenager I was the weird goth kid who secretly wanted to be a model. But, I was afraid that all models were spray-tanned and superficial, and I didn't want to have pressure on myself to look like that. Then I decided I would make a profile on ModelMayhem.com and test the waters of the modeling world. To my surprise, I found myself surrounded by amazing artists and brilliant, creative, down-to-Earth people! I fell in love with making art with all these new people, and made art modeling my full-time career in June 2012.
What excites you about modeling?
Meeting so many talented artists has been a privilege. I really enjoy when my creative energy just clicks with someone else, and our ideas feed on one another and take off into crazy places.
Taking my clothes off in front of a stranger with a camera is pretty exciting as well! It's quite liberating, and has allowed me to become more comfortable in my skin and grow my self-confidence.
What are your favorite types of outfits to model in?
Anything but clothes! I like to be wrapped up and covered with interesting looking, unexpected things.
I also like most anything that could be described as goth, hippie, gypsy, Victorian, or steam punk. The higher the heels the better!
What are your least favorites?
Clothes and shoes that don't fit properly! It's so uncomfortable to model in tiny shoes, or clothes that are carefully binder-clipped on.
I don't really mind modeling styles that aren't "me". I like to try new things, and it's fun to kind of play the role and take on a new persona for a little while.
What kind of shoots would you like to work on in the future?
I am fascinated by alternative process photography. Ambrotypes are really fun to be a part of since the posing process is so different from the fast paced digital shooting I'm used to. I love to watch the images develop on the glass plates in the darkroom.
I recently did a shoot with an infrared camera and the effect it created was amazing to me.
I hope to discover more lesser-known photography methods and learn about how they work.
Are there any other creative mediums you work in?
I paint, play piano, sing, dance, make jewelry, and occasionally I make clothing. I love all things crafty!
What kind of music do you like?
I enjoy classical, metal, and especially classically influenced, technical metal. Sometimes I get down to my guilty pleasure rap.
What do you like to do for fun?
Nature is my home, I love hiking, camping and exploring the wilderness. Getting lost in the woods with good friends and finding interesting places or abandoned buildings is my idea of a good time.
