How did you get started modeling?
A good friend suggested I try modeling and I guess it just went from there? I never intended it to be what it is at the present but I have to say I am thankful a blessed for all the opportunities that have come my way! As a petite, its often not an easy task to show you DO have the creative eye and potential. Some discard you because you are not of "standard" others praise your unique features. Then again, in reality, if we took away the size or shape of a model...don't we all have some unique aspect that is meant to shine? Something to think about, hmm....
What excites you about modeling?
What doesn't excite me is more like it! I enjoy every aspect. Including pulling my hair out trying to prep for a shoot (shave, pack the basics, gather accessories, fill up the car, get to LA, Orange County, Palm Springs...)...
I enjoy the adventure all around. I enjoy getting my hair and makeup done professionally, I enjoy promoting someone's designs, someone's styling. I love working with various groups of artists and seeing what we can all do together! It's art and art is in the eye of the beholder, yes?
What are your favorite types of outfits to model in?
I really enjoy modeling high fashion, couture. Not always a staple for me as I am petite and with tattoos, but when the opportunity arises, I very much enjoy it! Recently, I worked alongside Amato Haute Couture, an international designer to celebrities (Katy Perry, Nikki Minaj, Natasha Beddingfield). Just a few weeks ago I also worked with, for the third time, Michael Costello of Project Runway (season 8 and all-stars season 1).
What are your least favorites?
I don't have a least favorite. Modeling is diverse in all aspects, wither the designer, the stylist, the concept. I very much enjoy the diversity of artists and the variation of clothing choice.
What kind of shoots would you like to work on in the future?
Personally, I don't like to bottle myself into a category cause that only makes me feel that I can do nothing but that portion, that range. I like to mold myself a bit in all aspects and get my feet wet in many various concepts. I' would like to further my hand in couture and high fashion and also add to my portfolio with tattoo modeling, as I have 11 tattoos and just next week will be adding a 12th.
Are there any other creative mediums you work in?
I am also a writer. Okay, maybe I should say I attempt to write? It's a hobby and another passion of mine. Writing, like modeling or acting, lets me be myself as well as be someone else. It's imaginative, creative, crazy, difficult, and absolutely amazing!
I also design websites. It's rough as I haven't done a site in years, but getting back in the swing of things with html and css is another passion that I love to tinker with!
What kind of music do you like?
Well, I'm sure fIXE Magazine readers will laugh, but I grew up in east Texas and I was raised on county music and pop tunes. I am still an avid fan of Reba, Garth Brooks, Leanne Rimes, & Shania Twain. And I am a passionate admirer of Backstreet Boys. Are you laughing yet? Yeah. I know you are.
I'm pretty cool with most music but I grew up with the above artists and they hold a special place. The first song I heard on the radio was Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks, and though the songs base is dark, it's meant something to me and my Dad for years. Unchained Melody by Leanne Rimes was the first tape Dad ever bought me, he said it was his girl. And as for that little boy band? They became my world when it crashed among me, after I lost my grandmother years ago. I blame my cousin for bringing that CD into the house that first Christmas we had without Nan....
What do you like to do for fun?
Modeling and writing isn't fun? I thought I was already having fun! ...yeah...sorry...I tend to amuse myself by cracking sly jokes.
In all seriousness, I model for fun and experience and I allow it to stay that way so that my hopes are not crushed when it doesn't work out so well. I also enjoy being a geek, like I said, and doing websites. Among my geekyness is also an infatuation with Star Wars & The Big Bang Theory.
Hmm...what else do I do for fun?....work? I can't think of anything I don't do and even when it's simply work...i make fun somehow. Have to keep light of things or you'll bust!
