HOW DID YOU GET STARTED MODELING?
Well I started acting at the age of 13, and throughout high school people were always telling me that I should model. I started modeling at age 18, during my freshman year at Savannah College of Art and Design. A few photography majors asked me to model for them, and that’s how I started building my portfolio. Soon I was being asked to work with professional photographers.
WHAT EXCITES YOU ABOUT MODELING?
My life really revolves around my passion for the arts. It’s the chance to create a beautiful, captivating image that excites me. As an actress, it’s also about creating new characters, and evoking emotion in the viewer.
DO YOU COME FROM A BACKGROUND OF TRAINING IN THE ARTS?
Definitely. I started dance when I was seven and have since then trained in ballet, hip-hop, lyrical, jazz, and belly dance. I started my involvement with theatre at age 13, as I previously mentioned. Performing arts was my major at SCAD and I learned a lot there about fine art as well as performance. I transferred to OKCU with an acting scholarship, but soon decided that, as their program is more theatre oriented, I’d rather pursue knowledge of my craft outside of school, and switched my major to Photography, another art form close to my heart.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE TYPES OF OUTFITS TO MODEL IN?
I enjoy modeling in outfits that are over the top, yet elegant and create a sense of fantasy.
WHAT ARE YOUR LEAST FAVORITES?
Lingerie. I just think it’s been so overdone that it’s exceedingly difficult to make an original image that doesn’t look cheesy.
CLASSIC PINUP HAS BECOME A HUGE PHENOMENA LATELY, WHAT ABOUT IT FIRST CAPTURED YOUR INTEREST?
In high school, the majority of plays I was in were set in the 1950s, which definitely got me interested in the era. I’ve also always been a fan of The Misfits, who were very influenced by that period, naming themselves after a Marilyn Monroe film. In my opinion, pinup is about women feeling sexy and confident in their own skin. What isn’t to love? I’m also a huge fan of burlesque and have several friends in troupes.
WHAT IS IT ABOUT TATTOOS THAT INTRIGUES YOU?
I see tattooing as a way to integrate artwork into the body. Some people want to tell their stories; others get inked for purely aesthetic reasons. I get tattoos to represent my influences, inspirations, and the little nuances that make me an individual.
ARE THERE ANY OTHER CREATIVE MEDIUMS YOU WORK IN?
I act, dance, sing, photograph, play several instruments, paint, draw, sew, craft, and make jewelry. I’m sure there are things I’m leaving out…I’m always looking for new ways to express myself; not that I need any more hobbies.
WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LIKE?
Well, David Bowie has been my idol since I was 6 years old. Other than that I’m a fan of many genres, although I’d have to say my favorite is Black Metal.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO FOR FUN?
I’ve always been a gamer, so I really enjoy playing video games in my spare time. I also play Magic the Gathering…I’m a nerd.
