WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO PICK UP A CAMERA?
I took a photography class in high school that gave me my first taste of freezing time. It was like having magical powers! I mainly started by taking photos of my friends skateboarding or macro stuff. What began as a great way to get out of a classroom turned into a passion.
WHAT PARTICULAR CHALLENGES DO YOU FACE WITH EROTIC PHOTOGRAPHY AS OPPOSED TO OTHER GENRES?
Odd thing is, the sultry photos I shoot are probably more socially acceptable than my other niche. I've done a lot of work for cannabis magazines and books and taking photos of weed for a living is still somewhat frowned upon. Go figure. While certain things are surprisingly quite similar, I've never had a plant that was worried about their body image, they don't get distracted by cell phones or drink my booze and if I make the buds look fat everyone is happy. I always try to build a model's confidence but not everyone is ready to be empowered.
DO YOU PREFER TO SHOOT WITH FILM OR DIGITAL?
There will always be a special place in my heart for the analog feel of film and I've been back into shooting with it more often lately. When I first picked up a camera it was the only option and being in a darkroom made me feel like I was in an old spy movie. Digital definitely has its perks though. Now it's more like Sci-Fi.
HOW DID YOU BECOME INTERESTED IN FETISH?
It was sort of a tail wags dogs situation. I started getting approached by people who said my style would work for fetish photography and apparently I'm not a creep so they told their friends...
DO YOU ENJOY FETISHISM PLAY IN YOUR PERSONAL LIFE, AND IF SO WHAT ARE YOU INTO?
My biggest kink is my creativity, it allows me to manifest the images I have in my head into reality. I try to practice this every day.
DO YOU THINK PINUP AND FETISH ARE BECOMING PART OF THE MAINSTREAM CULTURE?
It has been in influence for a while and the numbers are definitely catching up. The mainstream is more like a pond. It doesn't flow very fast.
ARE THERE ANY OTHER CREATIVE MEDIUMS YOU WORK IN?
Doing short videos and making stencils and t-shirts from my images are some things I've been having fun with. I'm also looking to train a monkey to ride a donkey through a flaming hoop as a performance piece and working on my midget wrestling skills in case this photography thing doesn't work out.
WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LIKE?
I'm pretty eclectic with the sounds I listen to. My place can go from sounding like the boys are getting prepped for a drive-by to a rustic blues bar in a matter of hours.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO FOR FUN?
I like going on missions for random props and miscellaneous junk. Second hand stores and flea-markets have a knack for giving me ideas for shoots. If I'm feeling a little more like working off some steam I'll go to the skate park and hit the bowl.
