CLASSIC BURLESQUE HAS BECOME A HUGE PHENOMENA LATELY, WHAT ABOUT IT FIRST CAPTURED YOUR INTEREST?
I fell into performing by accident - I grew up dancing starting at the age of 2 and continued into my 20s. I stopped when I went to college to become a visual artist, and when I moved to New York some people who found out I had been a dancer asked me to do a performance for a party in the city. My first performance was at Rated X The Panty Party and I was hooked! It was so good to be back on a stage, plus I felt like I was really able to use my background in visual arts (as well as theater acting) in a way that merged the three. I loved the pageantry, the performance art aspect, not to mention the feeling you get when a crowd is really into your act, cheering and screaming for you. There's nothing like it.
WHAT KIND OF PERFORMANCE DO YOU PUT ON?
My acts range from Classic Burlesque to dark comedy to more avant garde performance art pieces - it really depends on the mood I'm in. Overall, I always try to make my acts tell a cohesive story - there needs to be a character, a setting, and a beginning, middle, and end. To me, burlesque is more along the lines of storytelling meets performance art. No matter what I do, I want the audience to walk away entertained.
AT WHAT KIND OF EVENTS DO YOU PERFORM?
I've done everything, from late night dance parties to corporate events to gallery openings, fetish events, and fundraisers. Of course there's the local and national burlesque circuit, with permanent weekly and monthly established shows.
WHAT'S IT LIKE PERFORMING ALL OVER AND EXPERIENCING THE DIFFERENT SCENES?
I love it! I've never been exclusive to one specific scene, I've always been interested in many different things and as such have friends in each scene across the board. I love that I can go from performing at a rowdy and raucous rock and roll show to a high end classic burlesque show to a late night dance party to a sexy BDSM event all in one weekend!
WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE TO PERFORM?
The Red Palace in DC is gorgeous and just a great, fun place to put on a show. The Studio at Webster Hall because of the openness of the stage. Tammany Hall has an AMAZING sound and light system. R Bar in Manhattan has such a cozy, homey feel to it, and every crowd I've ever seen there has been like family. Too many places to name.
HAS ANYTHING CRAZY EVER HAPPENED AT A SHOW?
Nothing too crazy in the shows I've been in, thankfully enough!
HOW DID YOU BECOME INTERESTED IN FETISH/BDSM?
I think I've always been kind of aware of my interest in it, even if I didn't know what it was at the time. Before I formally got involved in any "scene" I was definitely into certain things in my home life, that's for sure.
WHAT EXCITES YOU ABOUT FETISH MODELING?
The clothes! I'm a sucker for anything leather, latex, and SHOES of all sorts. It's my one girly vice.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE TYPES OF OUTFITS TO MODEL IN?
Latex. All latex the time.
WHAT ARE YOUR LEAST FAVORITES?
I'm not so much into anything too extreme - I love fabrics but they have to be really well designed, very fashion oriented. It's all about style!
DO YOU ENJOY FETISHISM/BDSM PLAY IN YOUR PERSONAL LIFE, AND IF SO WHAT ARE YOU INTO?
I am, but a lady never tells. If you follow my Twitter/Facebook, I'm sure you can figure it out.
ARE THERE ANY FETISHES THAT YOU DON'T FIND APPEALING?
Of course, but I'm not going to hold anyone's fetish/kink against them. Different strokes for different folks!
ARE THERE ANY OTHER CREATIVE MEDIUMS YOU WORK IN?
On top of burlesque performing and fetish modeling, I also still dabble in visual art (animation and photo retouching), gogo and performance dance, some stage and commercial acting, and every now and then I do makeup art for photo shoots and video/film. I'm a busy girl!
WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LIKE?
My taste is wide and every ranging: pop, rock, hip hop, classic rock, indie, R&B....although my favorites are and always will be David Bowie and Michael Jackson.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO FOR FUN?
Make/work on costume pieces/alter clothes. Go to the movies (I'm a movie FREAK - I went to film school!). Read. Watch Games of Thrones/The Walking Dead/Boardwalk Empire. Buy fetish clothing and take photos in said clothing. Play with animals. Cook, when I get the chance. Go to concerts/live music. Dance dance dance!!!
