WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO PICK UP A CAMERA?
I was in a working band for nine years and at the time was also an avid amateur photographer. After I quit, I became a band promo photographer. This eventually led to other commercial work, nightclub photography, weddings, and model portfolio.
WHAT PARTICULAR CHALLENGES DO YOU FACE WITH EROTIC PHOTOGRAPHY AS OPPOSED TO OTHER GENRES?
I don't consider myself much of an erotic photographer. I certainly do nude work, and think the results can be very creative and have a great visual impact. When I think of erotica, I envision images intended to arouse people sexually. That's definitely not my primary goal, however, I wouldn't feel insulted if it turned out that way. I think if I were an erotic photographer, my biggest challenge would be to be viewed as a 'real' artist - properly done erotica is the same as any other art form. It has it's own inherent challenges and skills.
DO YOU PREFER TO SHOOT WITH FILM OR DIGITAL?
WHAT KIND OF SHOOTS WOULD YOU LIKE TO WORK ON IN THE FUTURE?
I don't have much time to do nature/landscape work, and I find myself often planning trips to accomplish this. I am the reverse of many photographers who find themselves wishing they had more human subjects, as they take endless photos or flowers and cityscapes. I've got models booked almost every day, and sometimes feel chained to the studio.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU HAVE FOR ANYONE JUST STARTING OUT IN THE INDUSTRY?
Always shoot in full manual, spend money on good glass, and take as many photos as possible. Memory cards are cheap, and film is not. We are very lucky to live in the digital era.
WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LIKE?
There's only two types of music, good and bad. I like the former.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO FOR FUN?
I am a competitive distance runner. I run twice daily; about 80-90 miles weekly. I've made my country's national cross country team twice, and look at running as a metaphor for many of the difficulties one faces in life. It's a wonderful but difficult endeavor.
