WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO PICK UP A CAMERA?
When I was a kid both my father and brother were doing photography. My brother who is 15 years older than me would have all these great photos of concerts that he had gone to and I just loved looking at the slides. Then when I went into the military he gave me his old slr and that's when I first started shooting. I would photograph everyday things and the places I was traveling too. After getting out I didn't really do anything with photography.
In 2005 my daughter was born and I was going to more car shows and wanted to get back into it so I bought a dslr. A while later I wanted to try pinup so my wife suggested talking to her cousin Brooke Barker who had just moved back from Ohio. So I did my first pinup shoot with Brooke. Brooke later joined Diamond Dolls Ink, a group of tattoo models based out of Sacramento. Some of them noticed what Brooke and I were doing and wanted to work with me and it has just grown from there.
WHAT PARTICULAR CHALLENGES DO YOU FACE WITH EROTIC PHOTOGRAPHY AS OPPOSED TO OTHER GENRES?
The biggest challenge is building that comfort level with the model your working with. If you don't have that and you're not communicating together it can become very awkward.
DO YOU PREFER TO SHOOT WITH FILM OR DIGITAL?
Digital, I see no reason to shoot film. It's just an extra step to add to the workflow and I don't want that. In studio I like shooting tethered so the model can see what we are shooting as we shoot it. That way they can give their feedback as we go and I can't do that shooting film.
WHAT KIND OF SHOOTS WOULD YOU LIKE TO WORK ON IN THE FUTURE?
Anything with Mosh. lol I'm really open to anything and I like to try new things. The one thing I have been trying to shoot more of is latex, I love it. It's sexy but can leaves things to the imagination. It's just so damn expensive.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU HAVE FOR ANYONE JUST STARTING OUT IN THE INDUSTRY?
Have fun, don't take it so serious, and don't let others get you down. Not everyone is going to like what you do but as long as you're happy that is all that matters.
ARE THERE ANY OTHER CREATIVE MEDIUMS YOU WORK IN?
None really. I play some guitar and do some video work for fun but that's about it. Between the day job, family, and photography there's not much time for anything else.
WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LIKE?
I love all types of music. My mood for music will change from day to day. I'm a product of the late 80's early 90's "alternative" music and I love to listen to the Pixies and Nine Inch Nails and always will. More current bands I listen to are Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Tame Impala, The Black Angels and Muse.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO FOR FUN?
Well photography is fun for me and I like doing it. I like spending time with the family even though my kids can easily drive me crazy. I love driving my car on some nice twisty roads, xbox, and going out to eat. I'm rather boring. Lol
