HOW DID YOU GET STARTED MODELING?
My first shoot was back in 2002, I was asked to help out my friend for her senior art show at college. This included a Fetish Housewife themed shoot, where I was portrayed dusting as a maid, wearing a red PVC dress, fishnets and red stilettos. They other photos for the show was a before/after gothic makeup portrait shoot. From there, I was asked to participate in other shoots for local photographers and to model in local alternative clothing fashion shows, including FuturState, PlastikWrap, Glyphiks, Lip Service, Dogpile and Aella Fashions. I have also modeled for various projects for James S. Cole Illustration a/k/a Angels2Zombies as a ninja and as a cyberpunk. Some of the work involving myself has been sold at art conventions and festivals around the country. I do not consider myself a professional model. I’ve never been published, but I was chosen as Goth Girl of the week for July of 2009 (http://gothgirlweek.blogspot.com/) and have been featured on flyers for Alien Nation, a Goth/Industrial dance night in Albany, NY.
WHAT EXCITES YOU ABOUT MODELING?
I enjoy meeting new people and sharing ideas. I prefer to shoot outside so it’s nice to be able to go to new places and interact with the environment. I’ve met many talented photographers, makeup artists and hair stylists throughout the years and I enjoy being able to recommend them to others and possibly help them book a gig.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE TYPES OF OUTFITS TO MODEL IN?
I am interested mainly in alternative and fantasy photography, but I am willing to participate in all forms. Almost always, my outfits have been “gothic” in nature. My style has changed many times over the years, so you will see me in gothic, industrial, cyber or PVC attire. Currently, I prefer to wear many layers and give myself a post-apocalyptic or crust punk look. My outfits tend to be over the top sometimes
WHAT ARE YOUR LEAST FAVORITES?
I dislike when people ask me to look “normal” in shoots. It’s not the point that I am trying to get across with my modeling. I want to show the world that alternative models should be accepted just as much as “normal” models. There are so many beautiful women out there that deserve to stand in the spotlight, but never make a name for themselves because they have too many tattoos, or they are too big, or they don’t fit the typical model description. Many times, these girls can model just as well as them, or even out model them.
WHAT KIND OF SHOOTS WOULD YOU LIKE TO WORK ON IN THE FUTURE?
I’d like to become more involved with fetish shoots, but shoots that are dark and tastefully artistic in nature. I’d like to work with liquid latex as I wear it a lot when I go out to club nights, and I feel this would represent who I am in a shoot. I’m an atheist so I also thought it would be fun to do some anti-religious shoots as well. I’m sick of doing shoots in cemeteries and abandoned factories. Even though I’m 31, I hope to someday do a shoot for a real designer that they use on their site.
ARE THERE ANY OTHER CREATIVE MEDIUMS YOU WORK IN?
I am a part time music reviewer for an e-zine called Brutal Resonance. I also modify clothing and create accessories and dreadfalls that I sell on Etsy. I started DJing in 2009. From 2007-2009 I ran monthly Goth/Industrial dance nights in Buffalo called TechNoir. I’ve also hosted after parties, fashion shows, art galleries and Steampunk events. I continue to promote events in this area. I run a Blogger blog dedicated to Post Apocalyptic Fashion and electronic music reviews.
WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LIKE?
IDM, Rhythmic Noise, Dark Ambient, Industrial & Breakcore
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO FOR FUN?
I enjoy going to goth/industrial and electronic music club nights, making clothing, going out to eat and hanging out with my friends. The creative mediums that I work in from the above answer keep me pretty busy, but I really enjoy them equally as much as I enjoy my downtime.
